The opening Praeludium is based on two striking thoughts: an ostinato theme in the pedal voice; and a scale theme.
The short Elegie (“in memoriam VE”) commemorates the composer’s grandfather, also his first organ teacher, organist Endre Virágh.
The title of the closing movement, Tanz-Toccata, refers to both the character of the movement and the well-known, virtuoso genre of baroque music.
